World Aids Day - 1st December

World Aids Day unites people in the fight against HIV and to remember those they have loved and lost through the disease.

There is no vaccine or cure for HIV and over 90% of people with the disease were infected through sexual contact.

The red ribbon is the international symbol of HIV awareness, it was the first ever ribbon symbol. There are loads of events happening nationwide today from music gigs and film screenings to fundraising nights and vigils in cities including Bath, Brighton, London, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Portsmouth.
